Rowena M. Swisher (77) of Willow Hill

Rowena M. Swisher age 77, of Willow Hill passed away Monday, February 12, 2024 at Robinson Rehab and Nursing in Robinson, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Rowena’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Bro. Darryl Titus officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Vanderhoof Cemetery, rural Newton, Illinois.

Rowena was born on March 27, 1946, in Willow Hill, Illinois the daughter of Ernie and Violet (Kidwell) Price. On May 27, 1961, Rowena married Michael W. Swisher. The couple shared fifty-five years of marriage before Michael’s passing on April 1, 2017. Rowena spent her life as a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was a life-long member of the Salem Missionary Baptist Church. In her free time, Rowena enjoyed caring for her house plants. She was blessed with a green thumb and plants thrived in her care. The greatest joys of her life were her daughters and grandchildren. She thoroughly loved being a grandma.

Rowena will be loved and remembered by her daughters, Donna Jean Russell of Mattoon; Lisa Kay Nail, husband John of Toledo; Rhonda Lynn Swisher of Robinson; Michelle Lee Ferguson, husband Randy of Robinson and Heather Dawn Graupmann of Robinson; five grandchildren, Ryan Eugene Ferguson; Adam Michael Nail, wife Becca; Shelby Noelle Myers, husband Sheldon; Alyssa Marie Culp, husband Austin, and Morgan Elizabeth Graupmann, Dustin Scoggins; great-granddaughter Katelyn Joelle Myers; two great grandchildren to be welcomed in 2024; sister-in-law Becky Price of Newton; brother-in-law Bob Varvil, wife Sue of Indianapolis; brother-in-law Billy Wackole of Salina, KS and sisters-in-law Winona Myers and Diane Roads of Wichita, KS; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband Michael and brother, James Calvin Price preceded her in death.
