Ruth Luella White (91) of Casey

Ruth Luella White, age 91, of Casey, Illinois passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Heartland Nursing and Rehab in Casey, with loving family at her bedside.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday February 15, 2024, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. There will be a 1-hour visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the funeral, also at the Barkley Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Janesville Cemetery.

Ruth was born on April 1, 1932, in Toledo, IL. daughter of Robert and Mamie (Kingery) Oakley. She married Walter White, and they shared 64 years together.

She is survived by one daughter Lisa White, one stepson Bob (Jackie) White, one daughter she called her own, Shirley (Clinton) Brewer, one brother Marvin Oakley; grandchildren Carol Hickman, Chad Brewer, Bobby White Jr, Mike White, Kenny White, Liza Vanetta, Crystol Biggs, Tim Morgan, and Phillip Morgan; 23 great grandchildren; many greatgreat grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special favorite niece Linda Wright.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Monalee Kiel, Wealthy Hanley, Ethel Gaston, Opal Oakley, and Neoma Hampton; brothers Charles Oakley, Millard Kingery, Alvin Oakley, and Calvin Oakley.

Ruth worked for the Quinn Broom Factory in Cumberland County, IL., worked as a Nurses Aide at Hilltop Nursing Home in Charleston, IL and at the Westfield Café. She was a member of the Westfield Baptist Church and formerly the Willis Chapel Church and was a member of the Willis Chapel Ladies Aide for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Ruth was a people person and never knew a stranger. Over her lifetime she did babysitting for hundreds of children, loving each one. Memorials can be made to the Westfield Baptist Church.
