Deborah Greuel (63) of Effingham

Deborah Greuel, 63, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Ascension St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Green Creek. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Green Creek. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, concluding with a 7:00 p.m. rosary. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association. Deborah was born on August 5, 1960, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Juanita Olsen. She married Donald Greuel on November 21, 1981 and to this union two children were born, Lynn and Scott. Deborah and Donald were married 40 years. Deborah was humble and enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and time outside. Deborah also loved to travel. She found joy helping on the farm and driving tractors, as well as gardening and canning. Through the years Deborah was a great athlete and enjoyed watching sports, especially the Green Bay Packers. She was a social person and didn’t know a stranger.

Deborah is survived by her children, Lynn (Jason) Huber of Teutopolis, and Scott Greuel of Effingham; grandchildren, Paul and Pearl Huber; partner in life, Donald Greuel; siblings, Jeff (Cindi) Sharp and Dana (Mark) Stodden; uncle, Frank (Cathy) Olsen: and uncle, Jesse (Linda) Olsen who was like a father to her; and sisters-in-law, Pat Lugar and Rita Greuel.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Olsen; brother, Alan Sharp; and in-laws, Ronald and Marlene Greuel and Cecil Lugar.
