Henrietta White Lingafelter age 102, of Willow Hill, Illinois, passed away peacefully Friday, February 2, 2024, at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital, Olney, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Henrietta’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services on Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery, Willow Hill.
Henrietta was born on August 28, 1921 in Mattoon, Illinois the daughter of Benjamin and Etta (Tarrant) White. On July 27, 1936, Henrietta married Harold Leon Lingafelter. They shared fifty-six years of marriage before his passing on June 1, 1993. To this union were born six children, Daniel Lloyd, Jacqulyn Kay, Larry Kent, David Leon, Philip Lane and Lana Gail. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Henrietta worked as a seamstress for E. R. Moore Cap and Gown Company in Newton. Henrietta had a gift of sewing, crochet and needlework. Through the years, she blessed hundreds of people by volunteering to sew for the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville and making hundreds of quilts for the children’s homes.
Henrietta will be loved and remembered by sons David Lingafelter, wife Debra of Willow Hill and Philip Lingafelter, wife Camilla of Branson, MO; daughter Lana Lingafelter, husband Doug Staley of Newton; daughter-in-law Juanita Lingafelter of Palestine, IL; 21 grandchildren and many, many great and great-great grandchildren; sister Betty King of Robinson, IL and loving friend Mary Ann Sears of Willow Hill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son Daniel Lingafelter, daughter-in-law Mary Clyde Lingafelter, son and daughter-in-law Larry and Linda Lingafelter, daughter and son-in-law Jacqulyn and Joe McHenry, granddaughters Laura Kay McHenry and Cindy McHenry and siblings Letha White Lingafelter, Harold Leroy White, Rosabelle Bruner, Dorothy White, Floyd (Sonny) White.
