June Allene Sharp (94) of Mattoon, formerly of Neoga

June Allene Sharp, 94, of Mattoon, Illinois, formerly of Neoga, Illinois passed away at 12:14 PM Tuesday, January 30, 2024 in HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 4, 1929 in Cumberland County, Illinois, the daughter of Walter R. Durdel and Allene G. (Clow) Durdel. June married Norman E. "Peg" Sharp on August 28, 1949 in Sigel, Illinois. Norman passed away on October 12, 1990. June retired from the General Electric Lamp Company in Mattoon, Illinois after 25 years. She also worked as a waitress and longtime pie baker for the Depot Restaurant in Neoga, Illinois. Mrs. Sharp was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sigel, Illinois where she also served in the Ladies Aid organization. June very much enjoyed working at the Depot Restaurant, visiting with the patrons, working with Dave and Mary Antrim, Mark and Sue Koester, and all the employees. June was an avid bowler, bowling for over 25 years, including in state tournaments throughout that time. She also loved traveling to visit her children and grandchildren in Arkansas, Nevada, Texas, Florida, and Tennessee, as well as taking trips out west with her husband, mother, brother, and sister-in-law. June dearly loved all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends. She was very proud of the accomplishments of all of them. She enjoyed traveling with her son Gene Sharp to watch her grandchildren, Nick and Jamey, touring in Illinois venues to perform country music. A special highlight was going to the Grand Ole Opry in 1994 to watch them perform on stage.
June is survived by her son, Gene Sharp (Karen) of Hendersonville, Tennessee; daughters, Belinda Beuerlein (Burt) of Wylie, Texas and Teresa Rieck of Mattoon, Illinois; daughters-in-law, Jackie Sharp of Lerna, Illinois and Tammy Sharp of Neoga, Illinois; twelve grandchildren, including Jennifer Sharp, Ryan Sharp, Chad Long, Duane Sharp, Dan Long, Kim Rieck Glosser, Nick Sharp, Brandon Beuerlein, Brittany Beuerlein Lively, Jerrod Sharp, Cory Sharp, and Stephanie Rieck; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Allene Durdel; husband, Norman Sharp; sons, Duane Sharp and Richard Sharp; granddaughters, Jamey Sharp and Catherine (Kitty) Sharp; brother, Jim Durdel; and sister-in-law, Mona Durdel.
Memorials are suggested to the Multiple Scleroses Society and St. Paul Lutheran Ladies Aid organization.
Visitation will be Monday, February 5th at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sigel, Illinois. From 10:00 a.m. until service time. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Thereafter, the Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Sigel, Illinois.
