Vincent G. "Bing" Keck (85) of Neoga

Vincent G. (Bing) Keck, 85, of Neoga, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, January 29, 2024, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Neoga, with burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Trowbridge. Visitation will be at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Neoga from 4:00 pm to 7:00pm on Sunday, January 28, 2024 with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 3:30 pm. Memorial donations may be given to St. Patrick’s Cemetery or the donor’s choice.

Bing was born on October 12, 1938, in Shelby County, the son of Joseph and Helen (Luchtefeld) Keck. When Bing and his sister lost their mother in December 1939, their father, Joseph Keck, rallied family and friends to support his young family. This decision helped Bing and his sister form close relationships with cousins and family friends in Trowbridge. Bing married Anna M. Mammoser on September 29, 1962, at St. Joseph Church in lsland Grove, Illinois. Bing began school in Trowbridge and completed high school in Neoga. After high school, Bing entered the U.S. Army and served in Germany. After returning from active duty, Bing joined Blaw-Knox as a drill operator trainee. Bing retired from Blaw-Knox 42 years later as a Manufacturing Engineer. His time at Blaw-Knox resulted in many life-long friendships. Bing exercised his work ethic with other part-time jobs, most notably as a farmer. Bing and his family were recognized for their Centennial Farm in 2017, which includes acreage Bing had purchased from several relatives over the years. Bing loved his farm and the camaraderie of working with family, friends, and neighbors, especially during the busy harvest season. Bing was active in the community as a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 64 years. He was inducted into the Springfield Diocese’s Knights of Columbus Hall of Fame in 2014. He served the St. Patrick’s Cemetery Association for decades as sexton and treasurer. He was a trustee of Big Spring Township for several years where he played an integral role in building community support for E.J. Water. He was also a member of the Shelby County Farm Bureau.

Bing is survived by his wife, Anna of Neoga; children Richard (Sharon) Keck of Boulder, Colorado, Gary (Laurie) Keck of Savoy, Brad (Leah) Keck of Neoga, Carol Fennell of Papillion, Nebraska, and John (Kendra) Keck of Bloomington; grandchildren Richard Keck and Ellen Keck of Boulder, Samuel Keck, Abigail Keck, Adam Keck, and Joseph Keck of Savoy, Katie (Justin) Niebrugge of Green Creek, Kellie (Craig) Niemerg of Dieterich, Allison Keck of Nashville, Tennessee, Lauren Keck of Neoga, Thomas Fennell, Audrey Fennell, Colleen Fennell of Papillion, Kate Keck, Charlie Keck, Reagan Bull, Bracken Bull of Bloomington; six great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews and their families. Bing is also survived by his sister, Mary Jane Renschen of Teutopolis, brother-in-law Alvin Mammoser of Teutopolis, brother-in-law Joe Nuxoll of Effingham, and brother-in-law John (Pat) Mammoser of Wentzville, Missouri.

Bing was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Christine Rose; his parents; his stepmother Marie E. Thoele Meyer; infant granddaughter, Breanna Marie; brother-in-law, Roger Renschen; sisters-in-law, Louise Nuxoll and Darlene Mammoser.
