Deborah Ann "Debbie" Kabbes (83) of Olney, formerly of Effingham

Deborah Ann “Debbie” Kabbes, 83, of Olney, IL, formerly of Effingham, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Carle RMH Auxiliary in Olney, IL. Debbie was born on May 9, 1940, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Eugene and Beulah Wenthe. She graduated from Effingham High School in 1958 and St. John’s Nursing School in 1961. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She loved to travel and ventured to many countries. Debbie was known for her sequined hats. Debbie is survived by her sons, Kevin Kabbes and wife Deanna of Olney, IL and Don Kabbes and wife Heidi of Dallas, GA; five grandchildren, Justin, Christian, Haley, Kasey, and Clayton; and thirteen greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Beulah Wenthe; brother, Phil Wenthe; sister, Pam Carpentier; and grandchild, Erich Hardin.
