Raymond N. Miller (79) of Willow Hill

Raymond N. Miller age 79, of Willow Hill, Illinois passed away Friday, January 5, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.
Funeral services celebrating Raymond’s life will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2024, at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Pastor Phil Boyd officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. Monday until the time of service in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery, rural Willow Hill, with military rites being conducted by Jasper Post No. 20 of the American Legion.
Raymond was born on January 27, 1944, in Flat Rock, Illinois the son of Leo and Freda (Mitchell) Miller. Raymond faithfully served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he married Rose Mary Dallmeir. To this union were born five children, Joyce, Rose Ann, Ray, Melinda and Benjamin. Raymond worked for McQuay Norris SKF in Casey, Illinois for sixteen years. He and Rose owned and operated Garage Sale & More in Hunt City. Having taught him-self, Raymond was a skilled repairman and repaired many appliances for their store. He was also skilled in mechanic work, especially for older model vehicles. He and Rose currently were operating Miller Mini Storage in Hunt City. Raymond was a member of the Hunt City Congregational Christian Church. In his free time, Raymond enjoyed old style country music. He played guitar and played with the Hunt City Little Opry. He enjoyed playing cards and dice, watching old westerns and telling and retelling old Dad jokes. He loved bacon. Raymond loved bacon so much, he could often be found wearing a bacon themed ball cap. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Raymond will be loved and remember by his wife of fifty-seven years, Rose Mary Miller of Willow Hill; children Rose Ann Valek, husband Paul of Wichita, Kansas, Ray Dean Miller of Yale, IL, Melinda Russell, husband Bob of Newton, Benjamin Joe Miller of Hunt City; grandchildren Zachary Valek, Jacob Valek, Nicole Valek and Alex Valek, Trenton Dean Miller, wife Peyton, Sara Lynn Miller, Megan Lynn Miller, Elizabeth Nicole Russell, Alison Nicole Reeves, husband Samuel, Renae Nicole Russell and Amber Nicole Russell; great-grandson Cooper Ray Miller; and three sisters Loretta Maddox of Robinson, Ella Logan of Olney and Donna Adams of Oblong.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Joyce Ann Miller and siblings James Hammond, Hazel Koester, Rose Mary Garrard, Norma Maxey, Ralph Miller, Mary Tracy, Alma Keys and Robert Miller.
