Eric Donald Jansen 33, of Charleston, Illinois formerly of Neoga, Illinois, passed away Friday December 15, 2023.
He was born February 19, 1990 in Effingham, Illinois the son of Andrew and Lisa (Heuerman) Jansen. Eric attended St. Michael’s Grade School, Neoga High School, then Eastern Illinois University where he graduated with a Masters of Science in Sports Administration. He was a lifelong Cardinals fan and an overall sports enthusiast. Eric was proud of his first-time home purchase which he enjoyed remodeling. He loved walking trails with his dogs and especially loved bringing them to the family farm and pond. He made lots of lifetime friends, some of which felt like family, working in Florida, Texas, and Illinois. His infectious personality and smile will be missed by all.
Eric is survived by his parents, Andy and Lisa Jansen of rural Neoga, Illinois; brother, Lee Jansen (Sophia Frichtl) of Neoga, Illinois; sisters, Jamie (John) Burton of Neoga, Illinois, Kelly (John) Arrotti of Clarendon Hills, Illinois and Kristen (Aaron) Snyder of Neoga, Illinois; nephews and niece, Brody and Baylor Burton, John and Ava Arrotti, and Ethan and Kaden Snyder; Grandmothers, Marilyn Jansen of Neoga, Illinois and Carol Heuerman of Teutopolis, Illinois; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal Grandfather, Donald Heuerman and paternal Grandfather, Jim Jansen; and his beloved golden retrievers, Yadi and Frankie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be used according to the wishes of the family.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday December 20, 2023 in the St. Michael The Archangel Church in Sigel, Illinois. Visitation will be Wednesday December 20, 2023 from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM also in the church. For those attending the services, you can wear standard funeral attire or be "Team Eric" by wearing any sports jersey or the color red for the Cardinals.
