Delbert Max Spencer (87) of Trilla

Delbert Max Spencer 87, of Trilla, Illinois, passed away Friday December 15, 2023 in the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center of Mattoon, Illinois.

He was born October 23, 1936 in Cumberland County, Illinois the son of Chester Lee and Clade Ellen (Butler) Spencer. Delbert married Marilyn Mae Groves July 29, 1957 and she survives. Mr. Spencer was a laborer at Mars Petcare / Kal Kan at Mattoon, Illinois and a self employed grain and livestock farmer. He attended the Buck Grove Community Church in rural Mattoon, Illinois and was a member of the Cumberland County Farm Bureau.

Delbert is survived by his wife of sixty six years, Marilyn Spencer; Children, Robert M. Spencer (Sheila R.) Of Trilla, Illinois, Janet M. Grabbe of Newport News, Virginia and Edward L. Spencer (Melanie L.) of Trilla, Illinois; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold Spencer, Dale Spencer, John Spencer and twin brother, Donald Spencer; sisters, Hazel Spencer, Margaret Henke, Daisy Mudd and Eleanor Ward.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday December 19, 2023 in the Buck Grove Community Church in Mattoon, Illinois. Visitation will be Tuesday December 19, 2023 from 9:00 AM until service time also at the church. Burial will be in the Zion Hill Cemetery in Paradise Township, Illinois.
