Jane Catherine Emmerich, 91 of Lake Sara, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Island Grove. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Bauer Funeral Home.

Jane was born on November 23, 1932 in Grove Township, Jasper County, the daughter of Leo and Catherine (Habing) Weishaar. She married Donald W. Emmerich on November 22, 1952 and he preceded her in death on May 21, 2020.

Jane assisted her husband with farming and was the secretary for Emmerich Seed Inc. They had a love for traveling and visited over 32 countries, along with most of the United States.

She enjoyed ballroom dancing and hosted many Big Band dances at the Thelma Keller Convention Center with her husband. They also volunteered at "The Cross" in Effingham. As a member of Lake Sara's "Ladies of the Lake," she enjoyed attending their social gatherings. Jane had a passion for bowling, playing Scrabble, and cards. Also at the age of 90, Jane enjoyed riding her trike bike daily.

Jane is survived by her daughters, Karen (George) Paulsen of Oberlin, OH, and Patti (Tod) Britton of Lake Sara; daughters-in-law, Loretta Emmerich and Pam Emmerich, both of Newton; grandchildren, Ryan Lawyer (Christina Morris) of Denver, CO, Kelly (Tracy) Ybarra of Murrieta, CA, Kaci (Joe) Mayo of Heath, TX, Amber Emmerich (Andy Utley) of Montrose, Kristen (Brandon) Hedges of Oak Harbor, OH, Keaton (Alicia) Emmerich of Effingham, Ashley (Craig) Blike of Brady Lake, OH, Kyle Britton of Effingham; eleven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marylene Weishaar.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald; children, Dean and Lee Emmerich; siblings, Leonard Weishaar, Vincent (Marian) Weishaar, Mary (John) Westfall, Bernice (Tom) Fehrenbacher, infant brother David Paul Weishaar; and parents-in-law, William and Nora (Lux) Emmerich; sisters-in-law, Jewell (Jack) Baumann and Collie (Bob) Worcester.
