Charles E. "Brick" Reiss (87) of Altamont

Charles E. ‘Brick’ Reiss, 87, of Altamont, died at 7:40 a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2023 at St. Clare Catholic Church, Altamont, with Rev. Ron Lorilla officiating. Burial will follow at St. Clare Cemetery, Altamont with military rites by Grobengieser-Fischer American Legion Post #512, Altamont. Memorials may be made to St. Clare Cemetery, Lutheran Care Center or the donor’s choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Charles was born on Tuesday, October 20, 1936 in Altamont to Henry and Edith (Thoele) Reiss. He was retired from the Effingham County Assessor’s office. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Charles was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church, Altamont, Knights of Columbus, Effingham and American Legion Post #512. He was a longtime sexton of St. Clare Cemetery.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by; his parents; brothers, James (Margaret) Reiss and Robert (Celeste) Reiss; sisters, Anna Mae McCain; Dorothy (Ben) Augustine; Phyllis Coleman and Mary Jane in infancy.
