Kay R. Adams, 87, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, concluding with a 7:00 p.m. rosary. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to St. Anthony Schools or donor’s choice. Online condolences may be shared by clicking here. Kay was born on March 30, 1936, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Bill and Urse (Althoff) Weber. She married Joseph A. Adams, the love of her life, on June 22, 1957 and he survives. Joe and Kay raised three children: Joell (husband, Mike) Worman of Effingham, Greg (wife, Janis) Adams of Sparks, NV, and Pam (husband, Kevin) Trueblood of Mahomet, IL. They are also the proud grandparents of six: Nicholas (wife, Lori) Worman, Benjamin Worman, Edward (wife, Andrea) Worman, Clare Worman, Matthew (wife, Sarah) Trueblood, and Jennifer Trueblood. They have three great-granddaughters, Hope Worman, Nora Kay Worman, and Olivia Trueblood. She is survived by one brother, Kent (Carla) Weber of Teutopolis, sister-in-law, Betty Adams; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Kay graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1954 and as an RN from St. John’s Mercy, St. Louis in 1957. She worked as a registered nurse in doctors’ offices for over 40 years. She was inducted into the St. Anthony High School Hall of Fame in 2010. Kay was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Effingham and St Anthony’s Council of Catholic Women. She started the St. Anthony High School Alumni in 1979. Kay was passionate in her efforts regarding St. Anthony High School Alumni and was influential in the preservation of the history of St. Anthony Schools. Kay volunteered for the “Cross”, assisted at community blood banks, school physical exams, flu clinics, and volunteered for St. Anthony service ministries. Kay dearly loved to be with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed taking trips with them or with her friends. Kay enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends, making greeting cards, and genealogy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; great-granddaughter, Isabel Worman; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Fran (John) Schultz, Marie (Lou) Albright, Adele (Don) Rhodes, Marge (Frank) Wall, Delores (Frank) Taylor, Charles (Mary Ann) Adams, George Adams, and Lonnie Adams.
