Derick Dwain Potter (57) of Farina

Derick Dwain Potter, age 57, of Farina, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.

Funeral service will be at 7.00 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood. with a 3-hour visitation prior to the service. Memorials may go to Pagel Funeral Homes to help with expenses or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here. 

Derick was born on July 8, 1966 in Vandalia, Illinois, the son of Robert and Kaye (Hassebrock) Potter. He was known as a hard worker who took great pride in detailing cars, trucks, tractors, and campers. He enjoyed riding horses and hanging out with family and friends. He loved fires in his fire pit and always welcomed all, expected or unexpected guests. Derick loved to entertain and was teaching himself guitar to further his entertainment skills.

He is survived by many loved ones including, Robert Potter (wife Atonya) of Farina; fiancé, Angela Montgomery of Farina; brother, Terry Potter (wife Carolyn) of Farina; sister, Robin Tate of Vandalia; daughter, Brittany Cheyenne Potter of Clay City, and Kala Chaney of Decatur; guardian of Ava Woolridge and Delilah Woolridge of Farina; grandchildren, MalaZah Chaney, AszaLaya Chapman, MiOnlei Chapman all of Decatur; niece, Riley Potter of Farina; 3 nephews, Travis Potter (wife Reanna) of Kinmundy, Anthony Tate of Hallsville, Texas, Chase Potter of Salem.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Kaye Potter; brother, Ryan Potter; grandparents, Virgil and Alice (Whitt) Potter, Earl and Clarabelle (Merritt) Hassebrock.
