Barbara Lee Pendergast (82) of Mattoon

Barbara Lee Pendergast, 82, of Mattoon, Illinois, passed away at 1:52 PM Sunday, November 19, 2023 in the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon, Illinois.

She was born November 16, 1941 in Strasburg, Illinois the daughter of Lester Roscoe and Lucille (Hightshoe) (Prahl) Ferris. Barbara was raised by her mother Lucille Ferris and step father Frank Ferris and with her father Lester Roscoe Prahl and step mothers, Mellie and Liz Prahl. She married James Pendergast Sr. June 23, 1962 in Charleston, Illinois, Mr. Pendergast passed away November 8, 1995. Barbara was the owner/operator of Pat’s Lounge in Mattoon, Illinois and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mattoon, Illinois.

She is survived by her son, James Pendergast Jr. of Mattoon, Illinois; granddaughters, Jaimee Pendergast of Mattoon, Illinois and Payton Pendergast (Ian Ebie) of Mattoon, Illinois; five great grandchildren, Rayshawn Glen, Kellen Foltz, Kynlie Foltz, Rori Ebie and Rowan Ebie; brother, Frank Ferris Jr. (Debbie) of Lerna, Illinois; sister, Peggy Scott (Steve) of Wake Forrest, North Carolina; sister in law, Barbie Prahl of Mattoon, Illinois; several nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; step father, Frank Ferris; special friend, Steve Dole; siblings, Lester E. Prahl, Patricia "Patty" Prahl and Donna Cole.

As per Barbara’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded and funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM January 10, 2024 in the Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, Illinois. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Mattoon, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to the Immaculate Conception Church in Mattoon, Illinois.
