Lisa Tipsword (61) of Altamont

Lisa Tipsword, 61, of Effingham, died at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at her home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Linda Dippold officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln Finn Education Fund or the donor’s choice.

Lisa Anne Tipsword was born on Saturday, February 17, 1962 in Vandalia to Charles R. and Johanna (Geeris) McCain. She married David Tipsword on April 22, 1994 in Effingham and he preceded her in death on July 16, 2013. She owned and operated Tips Corner Tavern with her husband David for many years and was currently employed at Niemerg’s Steakhouse in Effingham.

She is survived by her son, Richard (Bethany) Finn, Altamont; step-son, Travis (Kara) Tipsword, Eldorado, IL; step-daughter, Amie Tipsword, Effingham; brother, Steven (Kim) McCain, Altamont; sister, Shelby (Adam) Robertson, Altamont; step-sisters, Renee (Jamie) Beccue, Altamont and Brandi (Matt) Wilson, Mason; stepmother, Lori McCain, Altamont; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by; her parents; step-mother, Anna Mae McCain; sons, Glenn Johnson III and Shane Finn; brothers, Roy and Rodney McCain; granddaughter, Harper Layne Finn.
