Bryan Keith Thompson, a beloved son, brother, and uncle, passed away on November 14, 2023, in Pana, Illinois.

Born on December 31, 1959, in Shelbyville, Bryan was a beacon of positivity, always finding beauty in simplicity, and teaching others to do the same. Bryan was the son of James and Linda (Moffett) Thompson.

He leaves behind his father, Jim Thompson of Cowden, his mother, Linda Denton of Herrick, his brothers, Aaron (Anita) Thompson of Herrick, Darren (Nina) Thompson of Herrick, and Travis (Rhonda) Thompson of Beecher City. He is also survived by his stepsisters, Nikki (Michael) Fleck of Olathe, KS, Kelly (Steve) Cole of Bethany, and Dawn (Stephen) Jarboe of Herrick; stepbrother, Eric Denton of Pana, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Bryan was predeceased by his stepfather, Dale "Dumpy" Denton and his grandparents, Ralph and Bunea Thompson and Donald and Helen Moffett.

Bryan worked at Shelby Community Services in Shelbyville. His coworkers were an extended family to him. He brought joy and love to the workplace, leaving an indelible mark on those who had the privilege to work alongside him. Bryan had a zest for life that was contagious. His love was unconditional, and his happiness was infectious, taking joy in the simple things in life. His interests were varied and included listening to country music, watching western shows on television, playing cards, riding horses, minibikes, and threewheelers. Everything his brothers were doing, he wanted to do too.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2023, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden with Pastor Darrell Hinkle officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Mound Cemetery in rural Cowden. Memorials may be given to the Cowden-Herrick First Responders.
