Dorothy Camic, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2023.

Born on November 21, 1928, in Stewardson, Illinois, she was the cherished daughter of William and Velpoe (Elliott) Quast. Dorothy's life was marked by her dedication to her faith, her family, and her community. She was united in marriage to William Albert Camic on July 6, 1952, in Windsor. Their union was blessed with four children, and they shared almost sixty years together before William's passing on October 15, 2011.

She is survived by her children, William "Bill Jr." (Dian) Camic of Shelbyville, Janine Dallas of Baltimore, Maryland, Cara Camic of Mattoon, and Margaret Wright of Windsor. Her legacy continues through her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, husband, five brothers, and two sisters.

Dorothy was a proud graduate of Stewardson High School. Her industrious nature led her to a variety of roles at General Electric, RR Donnelley, and Kraft Foods, all in Mattoon. She was known for her work ethic, diligence, and the grace with which she handled her responsibilities. Her commitment to her community was evident through her active membership in the Windsor United Methodist Church and the Windsor American Legion Garrett Baldrige Post 725 Ladies Auxiliary. Dorothy also served her community in an official capacity on the Shelby County Board of Review. Beyond her professional and community involvement, Dorothy had a zest for life and a love for simple pleasures. She was an avid cook, known especially for her homemade noodles that were a family favorite. Dorothy also enjoyed reading and playing cards, often described as having a mean game. Most importantly, she treasured the time spent with her loved ones, creating memories that will live on in their hearts.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor. Burial will follow in Windsor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
