Rodney Earl "Jake" Wade (87) of Shelbyville

Rodney Earl “Jake” Wade, 87, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023 in HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2023 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Father Pawel Augustyniak as celebrant. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday November 16, in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to St. Jude or Operation Smile.

Rodney was born on July 30, 1936 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Jacob Earl and Helen Maxine Rodman Wade. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1954 and then served in the United States Army. He married Sharon McBride on August 1, 1960 in Shelbyville, IL. Rodney was retired from World Color Press in Effingham, IL. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trips to Canada. Rodney was an avid outdoorsman and fan of the Chicago Cubs.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Wade; sons, Ryan Wade and Darren Wade both of Shelbyville, IL and Adam Wade (Amanda) of Sullivan, IL; daughter, Aimee Lockart of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Ruth Ann Keown of Lakewood, IL: ten grandchildren, Josie and Samantha Wade, Robbi Fleshner, Elizabeth Massey, Hannah Strode, Addison, Isabel and Molly Owens, and Carson and Crew Lockart; and seven great grandchildren, Draven, Skyler, and Madison Massey, Ziola and Marly Stiles and Cooper and Evelyn Stevens.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Larry Keown.
