Rosemary Elmore (89) of Newton

Rosemary Elmore age 89 of Newton passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Effingham Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Effingham, Illinois.
Private funeral services will be held. Family and friends may join the family for graveside services at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the Trexler Cemetery, rural Newton. Crain Funeral Home, Newton is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Rosemary was born on January 22, 1934, in Bible Grove Township, Clay County, Illinois the daughter of Oscar and Laurel (Webster) Childers. She was a graduate of Flora High School. Rosemary met the love of her life, Merle A. Elmore. The couple married on February 24, 1953, in Long Beach, California. They shared sixty years together before his passing on December 31, 2013. In addition to being a wife and mother, Rosemary was a seamstress for E. R. Moore Cap and Gown. She later left the factory, returning home to work alongside Merle on the farm. Together, they raised their crops, repaired machinery and spent their time being together on the farm. She was faithful member of the Newton Christian Church. In her free time, she enjoyed crafts and was a very good cook. She was an excellent seamstress, fashioning clothing for her daughter and herself. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother and a great farmer.
Rosemary will be loved and remembered by daughter Marilyn Miller, husband Fred of Newton; granddaughters Rebecca Kennedy, husband Kevin and Emily Shull, husband Caleb both of Newton; great grandchildren Michael Kennedy, Amelia Kennedy, Brooklyn Shull, David Shull and Natalie Shull all of Newton; brother Larry Childers, wife Alice of Flora and sisters-in-law Beverly Childers of Flora and Joyce Childers of Colorado and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Merle, brothers Charles C. Childers and Robert W. Childers and sister and brother-in-law Norma and Edwin Henson.
