James Kendall Dunaway, 67, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 3:20 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2023 in Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. – noon on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. A private funeral service for the family will be held with burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Forest Park in Shelbyville, Kemmerer Village in Assumption, or Shelbyville CUSD #4 for the Bill Dunaway Memorial Agricultural Scholarship.

Jim was born on February 24, 1956 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of William Kendall and Gladys Ilene (Bolds) Dunaway. Jim attended Shelbyville High School and graduated from Culver Military Academy. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Ag Production from Illinois State University. Jim married Annette Tomlinson on July 21, 1984. Jim worked as a farmer in the Shelby County area for many years. He was an avid hunter and had the privilege to introduce his sons and nephews to the sport that he loved.

Jim is survived by his wife, Annette of Shelbyville; sons, Nick Dunaway (Ann) of Shelbyville; Lucas Dunaway (Emily) of Shiloh, IL; and Brock Dunaway of Shelbyville, IL; sisters, Jacqueline Eberspacher of Shelbyville, IL, Joyceline Pancoast of Mt. Vernon, IL, Jennifer (James) Case of Shelbyville, IL, and Jyl (Steve) Fathauer of Shelbyville, IL; seven grandchildren, Lawson, Eva, Drew, Elsie, Landon, Easton, and Margot; sisters-in-law, Becki Thompson (Ed) of Cowden, IL, and Teresa VanDeursen (Paul) of Shelbyville, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles & Verla Tomlinson; and brothers-in-law, E.C. Eberspacher and Brad Pancoast.
