Madonna Hayes passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, Eve of All Saints Day. Now we have another Saint in Heaven, praying for us.
Madonna was born on June 14, 1935 in Kankakee, IL, to the late Clarence and Bernice Heinze. Madonna (Heinze) married Ed Hayes on April 23, 1954 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley.
Madonna is survived by her loving family: daughter, Marla (Gary) Burns of Katy, TX; and sons, Kurt (Kellee) Hayes of Bourbonnais, Jeff (Amy) Hayes of Bloomington, IL, Brian Hayes of Effingham, IL, and Scott (Michelle) Hayes of Aledo, TX. She dearly loved her eleven grandchildren: Collin (Audrey) Burns, Erin Burns, Justin (Jessi) Hayes, Kyle (Skylar) Hayes, Kory Hayes, Emily (EJ) Schiller, Sarah Hayes, Austin Hayes, Carter Hayes, Keegan (Erin) Hayes, Aidan Hayes; and her five great grandchildren, Benton and Ebby Burns, Christa Martinez, Molly Hayes, and Price Schiller. Also surviving are her dear friends and siblings, Betty (late Johnny) Boatright of Kankakee, and Terry (Joyce) Heinze of Bradley, both who were loving family members. Additionally, Howard (Patty Clancy) Hayes of Bourbonnais and Mary Johnson of Bradley. All got together regularly, so their extended families could celebrate life’s accomplishments and holidays.
Madonna was a lifelong resident of the Bradley Bourbonnais area. She attended St Joseph Grade School and Bradley High School where she excelled in her studies as a Honor Student. She was also a DJ at the high school radio station and sang in the choir.
Madonna was a successful Interior Design Consultant and an active member of Bourbonnais Women’s Club and St Mary’s Ladies Auxiliary. She was always a supportive coach’s wife that attended many games, and took all opportunities to attend events that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren participated in.
Madonna and Ed were blessed with the opportunity to be world travelers, spending time with friends (late) Don and Burney Gundy, Bob and Joyce Bryant, and Dick and Dorothy Carley, as well as making many new friends along the way. The one job Madonna enjoyed most was cooking and caring for her family. This loving woman was a wonderful wife to her husband Ed, mother to her children, loving grandma, and a Godly servant to her faith and religion. She loved any opportunity to be surrounded by her family.
The family of Madonna (Heinze) Hayes would like to invite you to celebrate her full life of family, friends, and travel. Please help us honor and celebrate her life and pray God comforts and provides his peace to all her children, grandchildren, extended family, and each of you who knew and loved Madonna.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday, November 6, 2023 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Maternity B.V.M. Catholic Church. Interment will follow at AII Saints Cemetery in Bourbonnais.
