Dona Strullmyer, 83, of Altamont, died at 6:44 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2023 at Stone Bridge Memory Care, Effingham.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church, Altamont with Gene Creek officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Altamont. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2023 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Ambuehl Cemetery, First United Methodist Church or the donor’s choice.
Dona Deane Strullmyer was born on Tuesday, November 14, 1939 in Farina, IL to Dean and Mildred (Reese) Sutton. She married Willard Dean Strullmyer on September 6, 1958 at Farina United Methodist Church. She was a professional artist painting many beautiful pictures and the owner of Dona Photography for which she took thousands of weddings, senior portraits, and family pictures. Dona and her husband traveled around the world enjoying all the continents and photographing the beauty each holds. Dona was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Altamont and a member of the Professional Photographers of Illinois and the Professional Photographers of America.
She is survived by her husband of over 65 years, Willard of Altamont; son, Joe (Sherri) Strullmyer, Farina; daughters, Lee Ann (Lyle ‘Marty’) Moll, Brownstown and Scarlett (Ron) Duckwitz, Mason; grandchildren, Shaine (Ellen) Strullmyer, Klaiton Strullmyer, Serena (Matthew) Buchanan, Erica (Aaron) Lange, Acacia (Josh) Douglas, Ashlyn Bartels, Landon Duckwitz, Keidron Duckwitz and Denver Duckwitz; and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
