Gary Curtis Goodwin, age 78, of Rose Hill, Illinois, passed away at 4:05 AM Monday, October 23, 2023, at Aperion Care in St Elmo, Illinois.

Gary was born on July 9, 1945, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of William Curtis Goodwin and Ruth Mary (Goodwin) Woods. He graduated from Streator High School in Streator, Illinois, with the Class of 1961. Gary served his country in the United States Army from 1963, until his honorable discharge in 1966, serving in Livorno, Italy. Gary worked for Victor Dana Gasket Company for 30 years and retired in 1997. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and playing horseshoes.
Gary is survived by: Children – Scott (Lisa) Goodwin of Newton, Illinois; and Dee Goodwin of Newton, Illinois; Grandchildren – Walker (Jade) Goodwin of Mulberry Grove, Illinois; McCrae Goodwin and Chesney Goodwin of Tennessee; Kelsey Gano (Alex) of Denver, Colorado; Shelby Mooney of Effingham, Illinois; Step Grandson Chase Galloway of Newton, Illinois; Step Great Grandson – Grant Galloway of Wheeler, Illinois; Sister – Donna (Mike) Erhart of Phillipsburg Kansas; Brother – Rick Goodwin of Denver, Colorado; Sister-in-law – Joene Goodwin of Robinson, Illinois. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, sisters RuthAnn Goodwin and Rosemary Goodwin, brother Donald Goodwin, stepfather Everett Woods, and a great granddaughter Grace Nicole Goodwin.
