Lois Ann Workman, 89, of Newton, Illinois passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 11:15 a.m. at the Newton Care Center in Newton.

At her request, Crain Funeral Home has assisted with the cremation.  A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.

Lois was born in Newkirk, Oklahoma May 2, 1934 to Charley E. and Katie (Guest) Masters.  She was one of 12 children. 

Lois worked in food service and restaurant management many years of her life.  She retired at 65 from Denny’s in Effingham then went back to work at Parklanes in Newton three months later.  She continued working for 15 more years.

Lois was preceded in death by her son, John P. Spence, Jr., her parents and 10 siblings.

She is survived by children, Robyn, Scott and Victor all of Newton; sister Barbara Beck of St. Elmo and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She will be greatly missed.
