Darrell W. Quick (82) of Jewett

Darrell W. Quick, 82, of Jewett, IL. passed away at 9:15 am on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the Cumberland Rehab and Health Care Center in Greenup, IL.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday October 13, 2023, at the Jewett Community Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday evening at the church. The burial will be in the Jewett Cemetery. The Barkley Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.

Darrell was born in Shannon County, MO on June 22, 1941, the son of William and Dessie (Prater) Quick. He married Lanora Belle Wellbaum on September 23, 1960.

Surviving is his loving wife; children Bobby G. Southard, Anita (Joe) McGinnis, Stanley (Gina) Quick, and Clara Painter; seventeen grandchildren and thirty-two greatgrandchildren; sister Wanda (Louis) Head; brothers Doyle (Janice) Quick, Delbert (Betty) Quick, and Dennis (Shelia) Quick.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Jesse Wright; sisters Wilma Cook, Gale Quick, and Alamaly Quick; brother Kenny (Tiny) Quick.

Darrell had worked as a Logger, then worked for 31 years at Fedders in Effingham. He then worked for J & J Ventures for several years. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Darrell looked forward to their yearly trips to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN. He loved squirrel hunting, and the weekends spent at the Quick family cabin.
