Kenneth "Kenny" Wayne Kull (91) of Shelbyville

Kenneth (Kenny) Wayne Kull, 91, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away peacefully at Shelbyville Manor at 6:52 am Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2023 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. A graveside service will follow at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday in Glenwood Cemetery, Section B, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Nathan Woolery officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or the Shelbyville Manor.
Kenny was born on February 20, 1932, to Clarence and Ruby (Mercer) Kull in Westervelt, IL. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1950. He proudly served his country during the Korean War and often wore his veteran cap. After trade school, he began his career at Shelbyville’s John Deere as a mechanic and finished his 35 year career as a maintenance supervisor at Caterpillar in Decatur, IL. Kenny also sold and serviced Electrolux Vacuum Cleaners in Shelbyville for many years. He married Phyllis Corlene Myhre on June 30, 1954. Kenny was a proud member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Shelbyville, IL. He was popular throughout Shelbyville as he would attend his grandchildren’s sporting events and could easily be spotted in his white Prius with the license plate “KULL 3” or in his Dale Earnhardt “Intimidator” jacket. Kenny loved to spend his days on his boat, enjoying many river trips with family, friends, and his wife, Phyllis. He also loved to spend time with Phyllis, family, and friends at NASCAR races to cheer on the Earnhardts. Kenny will be most remembered as a faithful and generous husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Kenny is survived by his children, Kevin (Michele) Kull of Chicago, IL, Steven (Alicia) Kull of Northbrook, IL, Kristi (Craig) Brown of Shelbyville, IL, and Kent (Tammi) Kull of Shelbyville, IL; fourteen grandchildren: Kevin’s children, Kimberly (Daniel) Griffith, Noelle Kull, Kevin Joseph Kull, and Mark (Janie) Michaelson; Steven’s children, Madeline (Brandon) Seiser, Molly Kull, and Matthew Kull; Kristi’s children, Kyle Brown, Cory (Alyssa) Brown, and Karli (Steven) Taschner; and Kent’s children, McKenna (fiancé, Dillon Birch) Kull, Kade Kull, Tucker Kull, and Maisie Kull; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Kenny was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Kull on March 11, 2014; parents, Clarence and Ruby Kull; and siblings, Jim Kull, Mary Biehler, Don Kull, Nancy Kull, and John Kull who passed as an infant. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of Shelbyville Manor and Trevor Storm of Traditions Hospice for their care and compassion.
