Douglas E. Wagner, 60, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at his home surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023, in St. Anthony Cemetery Effingham with military rites. Doug was born on April 9, 1963, in Louisville, Kentucky the son of George Wagner and Virginia DeckerFox. He married Debra J. Baker-Moon on May 31, 1991. Doug served as a Corporal in the United States Army from 1987-1993 and was stationed at Fort Campbell in Kentucky. He was a hard worker and was employed at Sherwin Williams for 34 years. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, cycling, and being outdoors. He also loved camping and telling his scary campfire stories. Doug liked cooking and enjoyed baking birthday cakes for the family. He also decorated Christmas cookies with the grandchildren every year. Doug had a goofy personality and liked telling jokes. Most importantly, he loved spending his time with his grandchildren and family.

Doug is survived by his wife, Debby Wagner; children, Kelli Moon, Brant (Evelyn) Wagner, Adam (Diana) Moon, Matthew (Aubrey) Wagner, and Danielle Wagner; son by love, Jimmy (Macie) Kirgan; grandchildren, Destin and Penni Matlock, Kyra, Nehemiah, and Dahlia Wagner, Baker, Julian, and Cameron Moon, Gemma Wagner, and Lilly Gasper; sister, Denise Wagner; sister-in-law, Gail (Joe) Warner; nephews, “Little” Doug (Jessica) Wagner, Shayne (Dee) Wagner, Mitch (Nikkii) Wagner, and Phillip (Amy) Wachholz; uncle, Frank Wagner; and father-in-law, George Baker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Frank and Margaret Decker and George and Cora Lee Wagner; son by love, Kolten Lee Gasper; and mother-in-law, Mary Baker.
