Beverly Jo Thompson passed away late evening on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Beverly was born on January 18, 1950, in Sikeston, MO. She grew up on a farm on the outskirts of Lilbourn, MO. She was the middle sibling of five girls. Growing up she had a love for her horse named P&G and trail riding. She would often be caught skipping school and walking to Jones Drug Store for a Coke on Daddy’s tab. In high school, she was a drum majorette. Beverly was a loving mother, sister, and friend. Beverly’s love for her two girls came first and foremost. She was a nurturer to all who were close to her. She often listened without judgement and offered her opinion while managing to lighten the mood with a good joke. Beverly had many different titles in her lifetime, but her latest she chose to work as a caregiver to others in Effingham County. Beverly had many passions and hobbies. Her talents included writing poetry, painting, working with stained glass, scrapbooking, crafting and a passion for horses, babies, and politics. She had a deep love for her many fur-babies. She enjoyed the ocean and the white sandy beaches of Anna Maria Island. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and receiving emergency kisses from the youngest. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. May she find the peace and comfort she was longing for.
Beverly is survived by her two daughters, Melissa Rogers (Paul) of Effingham, IL and Megan Schjolberg of Bloomington, IL; her four grandchildren, Hayden Schjolberg, Ava Schjolberg, Kaitie Rogers, and Lucas Rogers; sisters, Donna Neal, Karen Carmody (Ron), and Robin Miller (Tim); and nine nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Betty Thompson of Cape Girardeau, MO; and a younger sister, Tonja Thompson of Cape Girardeau, MO.
There will be a celebration of life on Anna Maria Island in the near future. Online condolences may be shared by clicking here. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family.
