Arthur W. Pruemer, 64, of Effingham, Illinois entered into eternal rest at 7:21 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., surrounded by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Centenary United Methodist Church, 203 E. Grove Avenue, Effingham, with a 7 p.m. rosary by Teutopolis Knights of Columbus Council 2874.  Services are under the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Arthur was born on April 23, 1949, in Teutopolis, the son of William and Martha (Buscher) Pruemer. He married Susan White November 24, 1979.  Art was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham and Teutopolis Knights of Columbus. Art began his sales career at Samuel Music Company in Effingham and retired from Johnson Diversey. He served on the Effingham County Youth Commission. For many years, he was involved with the Effingham Babe Ruth Baseball League. He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. Art volunteered for the Effingham High School Sportsbackers Club for over 20 years. He especially loved watching his children play sports and his grandchildren were the highlight of his life.

Art is survived by his wife, Susan Pruemer of Effingham; sons, Bill (wife Sarah) Pruemer of O’Fallon, Mo. and Andy Pruemer of Effingham; grandchildren, Drew and Chase of O’Fallon, Mo.; mother, Martha Pruemer of Teutopolis; brother, Ronald Pruemer of Teutopolis; sisters, JoAnn (husband Maynard) King of Marion and Connie (husband Mike) Eskew of Effingham; several nieces, nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Pruemer; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herb and Virginia White.
