Cathy June Roley (70) of Louisville

Cathy June Roley, 70, of Louisville passed away peacefully at 12:20 pm, Saturday, September 9, 2023 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

She was born on July 7, 1953, in Miami, Florida, the daughter of Herman L. and Patty Louise (Stanley) Fulk. Cathy married Robert “Bob” Roley on April 13, 1974 at the Ingraham Christian Church and they shared 49 years of marriage. Cathy was a woman of many talents and interests. In her younger years, she had a passion for sewing and could make anything from simple garments to wedding dresses. As she got older, she developed a love for the outdoors. She spent many happy hours camping, water skiing, and fishing, enjoying the beauty and tranquility of nature. When she was at home, she loved to work in her garden, tending to her plants and flowers with great care and attention. Cathy's green thumb was well-known, and her garden was a reflection of her love for life and nature. In addition to her love for the outdoors, Cathy was a phenomenal cook. She took great pleasure in preparing meals for her family, and her cooking was always a hit at family gatherings. Her recipes were cherished by her family, and her kitchen was always filled with the delicious aromas of home-cooked meals. Cathy will be remembered as a woman who was full of life and love. She was a kind and caring individual, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her love for her family was deep and unconditional, and she always put their needs above her own. Her love for the outdoors and her passion for cooking were testaments to her zest for life. She lived her life to the fullest, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Cathy is survived by her husband: Robert “Bob” Roley of Louisville; daughter: Jennifer Roley of Flora; brother: Dale (Nancy) Fulk of Flora; sister: Trecia (Alain) Kitombolwe of DR Congo. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son: Thomas Wayne Roley; brother: Darrell Fulk.

Funeral services to celebrate Cathy’s life will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the McGriff Funeral Home in Louisville with Ron Payne officiating. Burial will follow at the Hoosier Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Cathy’s memory to the Ingraham Cemetery or to The Family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
