Joseph Anthony Bokor, III, age 71, of Tuscola, Illinois, passed away at 5:35 AM – Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at his home.
A time of visitation for Joe, will be held 10:00 AM till 12:00 PM (Noon) – Monday, September 11, 2023, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. A service celebrating his life will follow, with Carol Ross, officiating. The burial will follow at the Headyville Cemetery, rural Dieterich, Illinois with full military rites. In loving memory of Joe, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Support Fund, PO Box 333, Newton, Illinois 62448. Joseph, better known as Joe, was born on November 8, 1951, in St. Louis County, Missouri, the son of Joseph A. and Janet L. (Young) Bokor, Jr. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, serving from December 13, 1974, until his honorable discharge December 12, 1978. During his military career he worked as an Orthopedic Clinic Technician and as a Medical Service Specialist, skills he used in his civilian career. Joe was united in marriage to Kathy “Kate” Chesnut on February 14, 1989, in Urbana, Illinois. Joe loved animals, he shared this love working for the University of Illinois, retiring as a Veterinary Technician. He enjoyed traveling to South Carolina to visit his grandchildren and great grandchild. He spent many days cruising in one of his many Corvettes, proudly attending local shows and gatherings. He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoying the ultimate fan experience with a ride along at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Joe loved his bonus family in Jasper County, traveling down for holidays, family events, fishing, festivals and social occasions with his family and friends.
Joe is survived by his wife Kate Bokor of Tuscola, Illinois; Daughter – Nicole (Bryan) Graham of Cashiers, North Carolina; Step-Sons - Shannon (Katie) Patterson of Homer, Illinois, and Jason (Lori) Patterson of Tuscola, Illinois; Grandchildren – Taylor (Elliot) Heichel, Maxwell Graham, Stevi Graham, Cody Patterson, Keagan Patterson, Zachary Patterson and Trenton Patterson; Great Grandchildren – Nora Heichel and Millie Heichel, with another on the way; Brother-in-law – Ron (Marsha) Chesnut of Round Rock, Texas; Fur babies Roxanne and Beau. Many cousins and extended family also survive.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
