Shirley J. Kneller (88) of Shelbyville

Shirley J. Kneller, 88, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 7:43 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023 in HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2023 in Glenwood Cemetery, Lookout Addition, Shelbyville, IL, with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. Memorials may be given to Shelbyville Boys Baseball. Arrangements are by Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.

Shirley was born on March 28, 1935 in Fayette County, IL the daughter of Joseph and Cleo (Musser) Phillips. She graduated from Beecher City High School. Shirley married Clarence Robert “Bob” Kneller on May 3, 1953, and he preceded her in death on May 27, 2020. Shirley worked as a CNA at Shelbyville Memorial Hospital for over 20 years. She later managed the bakery and was a cake decorator at Johnston’s IGA in Shelbyville for many years. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Shelbyville. Shirley enjoyed word search puzzles, coloring books for adults, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.

Shirley is survived by three children, Karen Kneller of The Villages, FL; Linda Coventry of Shelbyville, IL, and David “Mike” Kneller of Shelbyville, IL; grandchildren, Ryan Kneller (Lauren) and Brett Kneller all of Shelbyville, IL; and great grandchildren, Collin Jones, and Kylie and Kade Kneller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; and daughter-in-law, Julie Kneller; sisters, Darlene Holley (Ron), Marilyn Dial (Floyd), and Carolyn Hammer (Norm); brothers, Donald Phillips (Ann) and Harold Phillips (Edna); sisters-in-law, LouAnn Hinton and Linnie Campbell (Gary); brothers-in-law, John Kneller, and Richard Kneller (Rosemary).
