Mark W. Collins (60) of West Palm Beach, FL, formerly of Effingham

Mark W. Collins passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Mark was born in Effingham, IL December 23, 1962, the son of Roy and Veronica Collins. Mark attended St. Anthony schools until his parents and 3 of his siblings moved to San Diego, CA in 1977. While attending high school in San Diego, Mark also worked at his parents’ business, Western Coin and Jewelry. After graduation, Mark and his father co-founded Collins Family Jewelers. He continued his education through studies at GIA and became a high-end jewelry appraiser. Mark’s true passion was found high in the sky. He took flying lessons and at age 16 earned his private pilot’s license. He spent many hours in the sky and often repeated his father’s adage, “There are old pilots, and there are bold pilots, but there are no old, bold pilots.” Mark was smart, kind, loving, and devoted to his family.

He is survived by 3 children, 10 grandchildren, 3 step-children, and 2 step-grandchildren; siblings Karen Flach (Phil) and Laurie Yager (Mike) of Effingham; Kathy Grossius, Sharon Collins, Eileen Collins, Bill Collins and Teri Collins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Maureen, and nephews Jason Flach and Robbie Miller.

Mark was cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
