Rayman Kelly (84) of Shumway

Rayman Kelly, 84, of Shumway, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Center in Effingham, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2023 at Faith Lutheran Church in Shumway, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Faith Lutheran Cemetery. Ray was born September 23, 1938 in Summit Township. He was the first of three sons of Rolla and Edna Kelly. He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a degree in Economics. Ray married Rebecca Keller in 1960. They enjoyed over 60 years of marriage. She preceded him in death in 2021.

They have two children: Dee (Mark) Newton of Austin, TX and Ronald (Loralee) Kelly of Shumway, IL; grandchildren, Randall (Elizabeth) Kelly, Douglas Kelly, Leah Kelly, and Samuel Newton (fiancée Natalie Morgan), all of whom he adored very much. The family is also expecting a greatgranddaughter, Charlotte Kelly.

Ray was an award-winning Allstate insurance agent for over 35 years. After he retired from Allstate he continued to farm until 2016. He was active in Faith Lutheran Church in Shumway, serving on the church council and Brotherhood. He always enjoyed helping crank ice cream for the church social. He was an avid Rook player with his buddies.

He was preceded in death by his spouse, Rebecca; and brothers, Roger and Terry Kelly.
