Joan was born on March 15, 1937 the daughter of Leo and Emma Beckman.  She married Leonard Flood on August 3, 1957. Joan loved to quilt and gave each one of her children and grandchildren a quilt handmade with love.  Joan loved being a farm wife and mom/grandma.  She was loving and nurturing and witty at times.  She baked cookies with her grandkids and always said they were so good because of the little fingers that helped her.  Joan was called “mom” or “grandma” by her children and grandchildren and any kid who walked through her door.  She was known for having a gum drawer and you didn’t have to ask for a piece, you just helped yourself no matter who you were.  She always had ziplock bags of frozen chocolate chip cookies and would freely hand them out to her visitors.  The M&M jar sat in the middle of the kitchen table for any little hands to take.

Joan is survived by four sons, Ron (Marie) Flood, Leon (Sheri) Flood, Joe (Cheryl) Flood, Dale (Cari) Flood; two daughters, Jane (Ben) Steffen and Beth Harmon; 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Norma (husband, Albert) Ruholl, son-in-law, Scot Harmon, and many other friends and family.

Joan had a very strong faith; praying her rosary was a daily ritual.  She placed all of her cares and worries in God’s hands and trusted Him.  It is with great comfort that she is now at peace in Heaven.
