Brian Wayne Wenthe, 61, of Watson, IL passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 6:49 p.m. at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham surrounded by his family.

He was born on August 15, 1962, the son of Ronald and Joyce (Rincker) Wenthe. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith on September 2, 1962 and confirmed into St. John’s Lutheran Church on April 11, 1976. After high school, Brian worked in Oklahoma and Texas for Southwestern Bell for several years. Brian enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, riding horses, and playing sports. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing in a band when he was young.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce Wenthe; brothers, Brad Wenthe and Kevin (Becky) Wenthe; nieces, April (Alex) Ritz, Amber (Kyle) Mooney, Bailey (Kyle) Willenborg, and Kori (Derek) Heuerman; nephews, Austin (fiancée Morgan Papa) Wenthe and Wade Wenthe; and aunts, Janice (Clint) Thrasher, Judy Ealy, Jane Rincker, and Carolyn (Paul) Webb.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Wenthe; uncles, Donald Ealy and Bill Rincker; aunt, Marilyn Miller; maternal grandparents, Ward and Genevieve Rincker; and paternal grandparents, Otha and Mildred (Wenthe) Osteen, and Ervin Wenthe.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham. Burial will be held in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery on Dutch Lane in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the church, as well as one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
