Ruth D. Shewmake (77) of Mattoon

Ruth D. Shewmake 77, of Mattoon, Illinois, passed away at 11:43 Friday August 4, 2023 in the Mattoon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mattoon, Illinois.
She was born May 5, 1946 in Shelby County, Illinois the daughter of Claude Oliver and LaVonne (Polley) Ruff. Ruth married Samuel Wayne Shewmake October 2, 1965 in Mode, Illinois. Mr Shewmake passed away February 12, 1998. Mrs. Shewmake was a homemaker and a member of the Neoga American Legion Auxiliary.
Ruth is survived by her son, Samuel A. Shewmake of Lake City, Illinois; three grandchildren; brothers, Lloyd Ruff of Fancher, Illinois, Danny Ruff of Fancher, Illinois and Elmer Ruff of Shelbyville, Illinois; sisters, Daisey Tolen of Stewardson, Illinois, Donna Switzer of Tucson, Arizona and Mary Conners of Effingham, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel Wayne hewmake; sisters, Claudette Morrison, Helen Manship and Jeanetta Ann Mahnke.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday August 11, 2023 in the Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, Illinois. Visitation will be held Friday August 11, 2023 from 10:00 AM until service time also in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Neoga Memorial Cemetery in Neoga, Illinois.
