Lucille Wells (98) of Brownstown

Lucille Wells, 98, of Brownstown, died at 10:25 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2023 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2023 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown with Rev. Doug Wodtka officiating. Burial will follow at Griffith Cemetery, Brownstown. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the VFW Post 9770, Brownstown, Brownstown Volunteer Fire Department, Brownstown Library or the donor’s choice.

Jennie Lucille Wells was born on Monday, May 18, 1925 in St. Elmo to Lawrence H. and Anna (Washburn) Thrasher. She married Howard C. Wells on December 25, 1946 in Scott County, Arkansas. They enjoyed over 58 years of marriage prior to his death on November 8, 2005. She was a member of the St. Elmo Christian Church. In addition to raising her family, she had been employed at PN Hirsch, Vandalia, H & L Sundries and the Red Fox in Brownstown.

She is survived by: her son, David (Robin) Wells of St. Elmo; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Wells; 2 grandsons, Brian Wells and Bruce (Chelsey) Wells; 4 great grandchildren, Morgan (Preston) Huyghe, Christopher (Zoe) Wells, Aubree Wells, Karter Wells and a great great granddaughter, Ayla Wells.

She was preceded in death by; her parents; husband; son, Phil Wells; daughter, Lu Ann Piper and an infant son, Howard Wayne Wells.
