Diana was born on May 15, 1965, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Leroy and Leona (Feldhake) Zacha. She was united in marriage to David Fuesting on October 4, 1986 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shumway. Diana was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church in Effingham.
Diana was a nurse’s aide for 40 years, working over the years at Lutheran Care Center and St. Anthony Memorial Hospital. As the great caregiver that she was, she always put others first. Diana never met a stranger. Diana had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.
Diana found joy in the simple things. She was at peace watching the birds, baking, tending to her flowers, and being with her dogs, Otis and Fred. Diana visited Ballard Nature Center often. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her granddaughter Maddison. Diana also enjoyed fishing and camping. Her tendency to make sure everyone was taken care of first, earned her the title “Mother Hen.” Diana was always looking for the next bargain, visiting the Silk Purse and yard sales when she could. This trait was also passed down to her daughter and granddaughter, and they enjoyed this time spent together.
Diana is survived by her husband, David Fuesting; daughter, Kristin (Thomas) Perkins; granddaughter, Maddison Perkins; siblings, Michael Zacha, Merita Elson, Daniel (Shirley) Zacha, Jane Heuerman, Cheryl (David) Burns, Mary Ann (Paul) Meyer, Roger (Judy) Zacha, Martin (Cheryl) Zacha, Christopher (Kimberlee) Zacha, and Theresa (Jerry) Kollman; brother-in-law, David (Debbie) Rubsam, sister-in-law, Julie (Tony) Bible; uncle and aunt, Richard and Donna Feldhake. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Gary Heuerman, Mike Fuesting, and Tim (Karen) Fuesting; several nieces and nephews; and too many special friends to count.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, John Zacha, Ronald Zacha, and Barbara Rubsam; brothers-in-law, Lee Elson, Rick Heuerman, and Alan Fuesting; sisters-in-law, Cheri Zacha and Jane Heuerman; parents-in-law, Gerald and Eleanor (Hoene) Fuesting; great-nephew, Henry Lucht; and great-niece, Laila Brumleve.
