Paul Frank Schumacher, 71, of Effingham, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 14, 2023 at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Sigel, IL. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on August 14, 2023 prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL.

Paul was born on September 17, 1951, in Effingham, IL, the son of Bernard and Helen (Hemmen) Schumacher. He graduated from Teutopolis High School in 1969 where his classmates called him “Too Tall Paul”, served in the Navy in 1970, and married Lynn Lutz in 1983. He studied agricultural mechanics at Lake Land College and was a retired farmer. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, spending time on the farm, and helping others. He loved telling stories and had a distinguishable loud laugh. He also loved walking, fishing, and eating a good chocolate chip cookie. Paul always said “God Bless You” instead of saying goodbye.

Paul is survived by his children, daughter Amber (George Anagnostopoulos) Schumacher, and son Kyle Schumacher both of Effingham; grandchildren, Vaida Crum, Cheyenne Barker, James and Michael Anagnostopoulos all at home; siblings, Ruth (Bob) Beckman, Lucy Polk, Donald (Joyce) Schumacher, Mary Lou Esker, Tony (Debbie) Schumacher, Vera (Bruce) Henderson, Joyce (Alan) Anderson, Reba (Les) Shadwell, Ann (Jim) Niemerg, Gail (Brian) Hardiek, Sara (John Schmidt) Schumacher, and Jane (Jeff) Cornell.

Paul was preceded in death by his daughter, Anita Schumacher; brother, Michael Schumacher; brother-in-law, Bill Esker; his parents; and his nephew, Brett Kemme.
