Helen Elizabeth Meers, age 90, of Olney, Illinois, peacefully passed away at 7:15 AM on Friday, July 14, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones at home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Olney, Illinios. Prior to the service, visitation will take place from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. Helen will be laid to rest in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, rural Dundas, Illinois, with her husband, Robert. To honor Helen's memory, memorial gifts may be made to the Michael Meers Nursing Scholarship Fund, c/o Children's Mercy Hospital, 2401 Gillham Road, Kansas City, MO 64108. These contributions will ensure that Helen's legacy continues to positively impact the lives of others, as she did throughout her remarkable journey.

Helen was born on September 21, 1932, in Newton, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth (Spellbring) Millsap. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who touched the lives of many. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
On August 3, 1952, Helen married the love of her life, Robert F. Meers, of Dundas, Illinois, who preceded her in death on February 12, 2013. Together, they shared a beautiful journey filled with love and companionship.
Helen dedicated 44 years of her life to Weber Medical Clinic, where she was a leader in the Medical Records Department. Additionally, she worked alongside her family on their farm near Dundas, Illinois.
A faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Helen's faith played a central role in her life. She found solace and strength in her relationship with God and found joy in participating in the church community, singing in the choir, and as a sponsor for Luther League. She was also active in the Dundas Ruritan. In her leisure time, Helen delighted in reading, writing poetry, singing, and journaling. She possessed a natural talent for crafting heartfelt poems, which she often gifted to family and friends to commemorate their special moments. Above all, Helen cherished the company of her loved ones and treasured every moment spent together.
Helen will be forever missed by her children: David (Betty) Meers of Dundas, Illinois; Alan Meers of Iuka, Illinois; and Sam (Julie) Meers of Kansas City, Missouri. Her memory will also be carried on by her grandchildren: John Meers of Olney; Illinois, Heather Meers of Olney, Illinois; Elizabeth (Troy) Longcor of Humbolt, Illinois; Christy Meers of Xenia, Ohio; Gavin Meers of Springfield, Missouri; Tian Meers of Franklin, Tennesee; and Katherine (Ryan) Meers Hurteau of Seattle, Washington. She was a cherished great-grandmother to Taylor West of Olney, Illinois; Emma and Peyton Longcor of Humbolt, Illinois; and Nora Katherine Meers of Seattle, Washington. In addition, she was blessed to be a great-great-grandmother to Maddox Owen Judge. Helen is also survived by her siblings: Dorothy Weber of Trenton, Illinois; Ray (Joanne) Millsap of Tolono, Illinois; and Ethel (Bill) White of Maryville, Tennesee.
Preceding Helen in death were her parents; her beloved husband, Robert; her brothers Carl, Earl, Harold, and Fay Millsap; her sisters Bernice Ernst, Neva Rogers, Doris Chesnut and Ruby Gocza; her daughter-in-law, Rhonda Jean Meers; her grandson, Michael Joseph Meers; and her great-great granddaughter, Eleanor Rae Judge.
In the hearts of those who loved her, Helen's spirit will forever shine brightly, casting a warm and comforting glow upon their lives. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and wonderful memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
