Debra Shirley (66) of Sullivan

Debra Sloan Shirley, 66, of Sullivan, died at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, July 16, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Faith Lutheran Church, Sullivan with Rev. Justin Cullen officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Union Cemetery, Altamont. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 21, 2023 at the church. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. Memorials may be made to Lung Cancer Research, Mary White’s Food Bag, or the Donor’s Choice.

Debra Sloan Shirley was born on Sunday, September 2, 1956 in Vandalia, IL to Leo Melvin, Sr. and Elenora Mae (Abernathy) Sloan. She married Kevin Shirley on August 20, 1994. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and had been hairdresser.

She is survived by: her husband of over 28 years, Kevin Shirley of Sullivan; daughters, Katherine (Daniel) Inman of Sullivan, Candice (Quentin) Fletcher of Mattoon, and Nichole Iacobazzi of Sullivan; stepdaughter, Jenny (Rick) Clay of Arcola; son, John (Kathy) Hingson of Sullivan; stepsons, Jason (Brandy) Shirley of Effingham and Mark Shirley of Mattoon; sisters, Mary Lee Runge of Goreville, Linda (Floyd) McCoy of Newton and Judy Pedigo of Virginia; grandchildren, Tyler Kean, Corynn Kean, Johnathan Iacobazzi, Peyton Fletcher, and Keagan Fletcher; stepgrandchildren, Lennon Shirley, Maddie Shirley, and Cierra Inman; great granddaughters, Ana Kean and Lilly Rodgers.

Debra was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Jeannie Hingson; brothers, Leo, Jr. Sloan, (twins) Lawrence and Loren Sloan and Rickie Sloan; sister, Lucille Wissink; brother-in-law, Leroy Runge.
