Robert Lee "Bob" Johnston 78, of rural Neoga, Illinois, passed away Wednesday July 5, 2023 in his residence.
He was born January 7, 1945 in Cumberland County, Illinois the son of Ashley F. and Alta L (Hawn) Johnston. Bob married Melvina Frances Ruby Davis she passed away June 6, 1982. He later married JoAnn Koester July 5, 1990. Mr. Johnston was a self employed Truck Driver and heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Church Of Later Day Saints in Mattoon, Illinois.
Robert is survived by his wife, JoAnn Johnston of Neoga, Illinois; daughters, Jennifer Bennett of Greenup, Illinois and Gina Johnston of Champaign, Illinois; son, Eric Bierman (partner Kim Behringer) of Neoga, Illinois; sister Margaret; granddaughters, Heather Morgan and Allie Orr; six great grandchildren; step granddaughters, Erica Fearday, Rachel Bierman, Andrea Bierman and Megan Bierman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Melvina “Ruby” Johnston; son, Keith Allen Johnston; daughter, Melissa Ann Johnston. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday July 15, 2023 in the Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, Illinois. Visitation will be held Saturday July 15, 2023 from 10:00 AM until service time also at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Janesville Cemetery in Janesville, Illinois.
