Carol June Easton, age 90, of the Liberty Hill Community, in rural Greenup, Illinois, passed away at 10:15 PM Friday, July 7, 2023, at her home.
Funeral services celebrating June’s life will be held at 12:00 PM (Noon) - July 14, 2023, at the Meyer Funeral Home – Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois, with Rev. Pat Powers officiating. Interment will be in the Greenup Cemetery in Greenup, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM till 12:00 PM, before the service. Carol June, better known as June, was born on June 30, 1933, in Cumberland County, Illinois, the daughter of Loren Samuel and Hylah Emaline (Warfel) Henderson. She married Glen Eugene “Gene” Easton on August 2, 1950, in Cumberland County, Illinois, and he survives.
June graduated from Cumberland High School with the Class of 1950, which was the first class to graduate from the new school. After Gene and June were married, they settled near Liberty Hill, and farmed together for over 50 years. She also worked at the Cumberland Nursing Home for several years.
June was a member of the Mt Zion (Block) Church. She was a 4-H leader and a member of the Cumberland County Farm Bureau Women’s committee where she served 10 years as District 13 representative. She was also a member of the Cumberland County Fair Association, serving as Treasurer and as concession and privileges director for several years.
June was an active member of the Cumberland County Republican Party and served as election judge for many years.
June and Gene enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida.
June is survived by: Husband of 72 years – Gene Easton of Greenup, Illinois; Children – Judy Rathe of Greenup, Illinois; and Mike Easton of Greenup, Illinois; Grandchildren – Ted (Laura) Rathe of Neoga, Illinois; Juli (Larry) Bishop of Greenup, Illinois; Tasha (Jay) Hollingsworth of Greenup, Illinois; and Travis (Tiffany) Easton of Casey, Illinois; Great Grandchildren – James (Genna) Prather, Theo Rathe, Jerik Bishop, Carter Rathe, Lucas Hollingsworth, Olivia Easton, Reagan Hollingsworth, and Corbin Easton; Great-great Grandchildren – Levi Prather, Abigial Prather, and August Prather; Brother – Wayne Henderson of Toledo, Illinois.
June was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law Allan Rathe; brothers Russell Henderson and Wilbur Henderson; sister Evelyn Starwalt and two infant siblings; nephew Larry Henderson; nieces Carol (Lake) Volkman, Pamela Henderson, and Sheryl (Starwalt) Hood.
