Monk is survived by his loving daughters, Holly (Bo) Hardiek and Mallory Baker; grandchildren Madison Baker, Jackalynn Kimball, Katelynn Baker, Chloe Hardiek, Reed Kimball and Joplin Button; brothers Rick (Dawn) Robinson and Jim Robinson; sister, Rita (Brad) Cox; and his loving dog, Ava.
Monk was preceded in death by his parents: Blaine and June Robinson and Freda and Jack Shepherd and one sister, Jill Beals.
Monk was born on September 6, 1956, in Jewett, Illinois, the son of Roy Blaine Robinson and Freda (Reisner) Robinson. In his younger years, when he was not annoying his siblings with his jovial pranks, you could find him outdoors making memories on the family farm and enjoying outings with his boy scout troop. His teen years were spent learning how to excel in horticulture, listening to music at deafening volumes, attending rock concerts, the occasional game of frisbee followed by the occasional run in (or away) from the law. As he grew older, his hobbies included arrowhead hunting and collecting artifacts. Monk was also a talented artist and an excellent pool player. Always on the go, he had a lot of adventures throughout his life that left him with a lot of memories to share with anyone who would listen. His sense of humor and his childlike presence will forever be missed. A carefree spirit who possessed a kind heart, Monk will always be remembered as a gentle giant.
Monk worked at Trailmobile for many years as a painter, he also was known as a local farmer who looked forward to harvesting his crops every year.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Barkley’s Funeral Chapel in Toledo. In honor of Monk, it is requested that you dress casually (shoes are optional).
