Laura Belle (Wade) Newberry Zackro, 76, of Effingham, Illinois, formerly of Beecher City, Illinois, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, June 14, 2023.

Laura was born on November 26, 1946, in Fayette County, the daughter of Oscar “Buck” and Sylvia (Lorton) Wade. She was a 1964 graduate of Beecher City High School. After graduation, she went on to work at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, where she dedicated many years of her life as a medical transcriptionist before retiring in 2004. Laura had a passion for traveling, especially on the Harley with her husband Ted. She also enjoyed golfing, gardening, and spending quality time with her family. Laura's love for her family was evident in the way she cherished the holidays, creating lasting memories for all who were fortunate enough to share those special times with her. Laura was a past member of A.B.A.T.E of Illinois Crossroads Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and Harley Owners Group Effingham Chapter.

Laura was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.

She leaves behind her loving husband Ted Zackro of Effingham; daughter Vicki (Jeff) Kirk of Herrick; son James Newberry of Montrose; grandchildren, Ashley (Dylan) Cervi, Mistique Kirk, Savannah Kirk, Ian Kirk (Reaghan Vaughn), and Wade Newberry; great-grandchildren, Evelynn Cervi, Cooper Kirk, Everhett Cervi, and Aria Cervi; brother Keith (Kathy) Wade; sister Kay (Jim) Ping, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ronald Wade, and sisters, Dorothy Sparks, Mary Swisher, Florence Beck, and Loretta Smith.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City. A private family burial will take place later in Beecher City Cemetery. In Laura's memory, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, an organization close to her heart. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City is assisting the family.

Laura's life was a testament to her loving and generous spirit, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness and love.
