Wayne was born on November 27, 1940 in Flora, IL, the son of Eugene and Pauline (Berthold) Greenwood. He married Rose Francis on July 30, 1966. Wayne served his country in the United States Army.

Wayne, like his father, had a passion for fishing. As a young boy, he was a fishing guide on Bull Shoals Lake in Arkansas for the family resort, Greenwood Cabins. Wayne loved fishing dearly, but Rose was his true love. They enjoyed fishing together and especially enjoyed trips to Branson, MO. Over the years, Wayne worked at Yellow Freight, Electric Motors Division in Chicago, and alongside his dad at G & G Motors as a car dealer in Effingham. He also organized and held many fish fries for numerous churches in the area. Wayne was of Christian faith and a member of Watson United Methodist Church, lifetime member of the NRA, and member of Royal Neighbors of America. He was also known to bargain shop, loved finding a deal, and telling jokes.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Rose Greenwood; sister, Mary Eloise (Paul) Goeckner; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Shirley Francis.
