James K. “Jim” Field, 70 of Effingham, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023 at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm (noon) on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with Deacon Joe Emmerich, officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice. Jim was born February 9, 1953 in Effingham, the son of Keith and Norma (Sur) Field. He was a retired correctional lieutenant at the Illinois Department of Corrections in Vandalia, where he also served as Orange Crush tactical team commander. Most days, you could find Jim walking his beloved dog, Roxie, around town or riding his bike. He enjoyed following local sports teams, especially the St. Anthony Bulldogs. Nothing was more important to Jim than his role of being “Pampaw” to his granddaughter, Callie, who was his world.

Jim is survived by his son, Justin (Nicole) Field of Effingham; granddaughter, Caroline “Callie” Field of Effingham; sisters, Diane (Dan) Zerrusen of Teutopolis and Peggy Osman of Waterloo; brother-in-law, Paul Knaus of Mattoon; his former wife, Catherine "Cathy" Field of Effingham, as well as multiple nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kay Knaus; brother-in-law, John Osman and nephew, Keith Young.
