Ruth Eileen Brown, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Sunday, June 4, 2023, surrounded by the love of family.
Born on January 26, 1939, in Windsor, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence and Dorothy Lofland. She dedicated her life to her family and creating a warm and welcoming home for all those who knew her. A dedicated homemaker, Ruth was known for her delicious homemade noodles and pies, which she loved to share with her family and friends. Ruth's love for cooking and her talent for making every meal special was a testament to her selfless nature, always putting the needs of her loved ones first. Ruth's unwavering love and devotion to her family will be greatly missed, but her spirit will live on through the countless lives she has touched. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to be a part of her life.
Ruth is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Ronald Brown, and their loving children, Cindy (Ronnie) Smith, Gary (Kris) Brown, Terry (Rhonda) Brown, Susan (Jack) Garmon, and Jason (Keri) Brown. She was also a proud and caring grandmother to Trent Smith, Brandon Adams, Tasha McAdams, Justin Brown, Jared Brown, Shayanna Ooton, Addison Brown, Brianna Eaton, Brett Garmon, and Brittany Hardy. Ruth was a dear sister to Kenny Lofland and Carolyn Wing and leaves behind several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Herman and Robert Lofland. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the in-home caregivers who provided Ruth with the utmost care and compassion in her final days. Their dedication and support allowed Ruth to remain in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family, and for that, they are eternally grateful.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, in Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville with Pastor Nick Robertson officiating. There will not be a visitation. Memorials may be made in her name to the Kaskaskia Church, 1845 E 2700 Avenue, Beecher City, IL 62414 where she was a long-time member. Lockart-Green Funeral Home is assisting the family. As we remember Ruth, let us celebrate her life and honor her memory by continuing to share her loveand thoughtfulness with those around us. May we find comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew her, and may her memory be a guiding light for us all.
